Digitalising production in SME manufacturing

Mantox's goal is to be part of digitalising production in SME manufacturing. We start from the point where it most often stalls: information that arrives as a PDF, a scan, or an email attachment.

Information where it is used.

Digitalising production means that the information needed in production is in a machine-readable format where it is used: in orders, work queues, and calculations.

In an SME, it rarely starts with an ERP project. It starts with a single work step where the same information is typed in again by hand. In a machine shop, a surface treatment facility, and a steel structure manufacturer, that step is reading the incoming enquiry: the customer sends drawings and product lists, and someone breaks them down into line items before anything can be calculated, ordered, or scheduled.

In our spring 2026 preliminary study, 11 SME manufacturing companies — most of them machine shops — described where the manual work in the quoting process arises: interpreting documents (45%) and transferring data between systems (27%). Of the respondents, 64% had noticed a document error too late. Document availability was not the problem; processing them was. Read about the research basis.
